Refutations of Ibn Taymiyya’s Two Tawheeds

(Translated with permission from the Waqf Ikhlas 1993 offset reprint)

  1. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, to whom Ibn Taymiyya falsely affiliated himself in front of Hanbalis, never said that tawheed consisted in two parts, one being tawheed al-ruboobiyya and the other tawheed al- uloohiyya, nor did he ever say that “whoever does not know tawheed al-uloohiyya, his knowledge of tawheed al-ruboobiyya is not taken into account because the idolaters also had such knowledge.” Anyone can check that Imam Ahmad never said such a thing in his doctrine (`aqida) as recorded in the compilations of his followers such as Ibn al-Jawzi’s ‘Manaaqib’ and other books, none of which contain this drivel.
  1. None of the followers of the Followers (atba`a` al-taabi`een) ever said to his companions (i.e. students of younger generations) that tawheed consisted in two parts, one being tawheed al-ruboobiyya and the other tawheed al-uloohiyya, nor did any of them ever say that “whoever does not know tawheed al-uloohiyya, his knowledge of tawheed al- ruboobiyya is not taken into account.” If humankind and jinn joined together to prove that one of the atbaa` al-taabi`een ever said such a thing, they would not succeed!

On Slandering the ‘Ulama and the Pious Shaikhs of Tasawwuf

In Defense of True Islamic Belief

Sayyidinaa wa Mawlanaa Muhammad al Mustafa صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:

“He is not from my Ummat who disrespects our elders and has no mercy for our youth

and does not give due reverence to our scholars/'ulama.”

Note: This is a reprint and update of a historical document released in 1982. When his Eminence Sayyidina Shaykh Sayyid Mubarak ‘Ali Shah Jilani  رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ

arrived in Philadelphia Penna, the Masjids that were heavily funded and influenced by the Saudi government began their slander campaign. They attacked  fundamental Islamic beliefs, slandered the ‘Ulama and the Shaykh and all the Shuyukh who didn’t follow the Wahhabiy -Salafiyy Madhhab (Minhaj). Alhamdulillah, The dua’ of the believers asking  Allahu ta’ala to raise up true scholars to defend this Deen against deviation and the deviates in the United States had since been answered.

All of the Islamic Books are embedded in PFD format. Please click "read more" to view.

Permissibility of using Taweedh, Amulets from Quran and Sahih Hadiths

Sami Anwar Qadri

The definition of a ta’wiz is simply a written Du’a from the Qur’an or ahadith and is for the one who cannot read or has not memorized that particular Du’a. It is written on a piece of paper and is worn around the neck.

We, the Ahl as-Sunna, believe that to wear a ta’wiz around the neck is permissible if the du’a’ contained in it is written from the Qur’an or ahadith. Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to recite du’a’ and then blow onto the sick person. The Companions of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) also did this and they wrote the du’a’ on a piece of paper and placed it around the neck of a person if they could not read it. Of course, the dua’s from the Qur’an and ahadith have the power to heal the sick. Some people say that if you wear the ta’wiz you are committing shirk, but we shall prove, with the help of Allah, that it is permissible to wear a ta’wiz.

The Qur’an Has the Power of Healing

Allah Most High says in the Qur’an:

“…We send down in Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers…”

[Sura Banu Isra’il, verse 82]

Qadi Shawkani writes,
“If the Qur’an’s dua’s are recited and blown on the sick, they will be cured. When the non-believers recite the Qur’an, their blasphemic disease will be cured”

[Tafsir Fath al-Qadir, under Sura Bani Isra’il, verse 82]

Hafiz Ibn Kathir and Qadi Shawkani write:

“Amr ibn Shu’aib (may Allah be pleased with him) said that ‘Rasulullah(may Allah bless him and grant him peace) taught my father and grandfather a Du’a which we would read before going to sleep, to protect us from fear and anguish. We told our elder children to recite this Du’a before going to sleep as well. But for those children who were not yet literate, we would write it and then put it around their necks.”

[Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal vol.2; Abu Dawud, in ‘Chapter of Medicine’; Tafsir Ibn Kathir, under Sura al-Mu’minun, verse 97; and Qadi Shawkani, Fath al-Qadir, under the same verse]
